Privacy Policy

Last updated September 26, 2026

This policy explains what information LookupLater collects when you use the website, web app, SMS lookups, API, and weekly email (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal information.

1.Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and sign-in details through our authentication provider. If you sign in with a third-party account (such as Google), we receive basic profile information from it.

Lookups and answers. The questions you submit, the search queries we derive from them, the answers we generate, their sources, and whether you've read them. We also record how each lookup arrived (web, SMS, or API).

Phone numbers. If you register a phone number for SMS lookups, we store the number and the text of messages you send to the LookupLater number.

Settings. Your preferences, such as weekly email settings, your time zone, your theme, and your API key.

Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers automatically log information such as your IP address, browser type, device, and the pages you request.

2.How we use it

  • to run the Service: look up your questions, write answers, and show them to you;
  • to accept lookups from your registered phone number and API key;
  • to send the weekly email if you turn it on, and to send service messages about your account;
  • to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems;
  • to understand how the Service is used and improve it;
  • to comply with legal obligations.

We don't use your lookups to build advertising profiles, and we don't show ads.

3.Service providers

We share information with companies that help us run the Service, only as needed for them to do that work:

  • Clerk for sign-in and account management;
  • Vercel for hosting and running the app;
  • MongoDB for storing your data;
  • Nebius for the AI models that interpret questions and write answers (your question text is sent to them);
  • Tavily for web search (search queries derived from your questions are sent to them);
  • Zernio for receiving SMS messages;
  • Resend for sending email;
  • Unsplash for background photography.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

4.Cookies and local storage

We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and secure your session, and your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as your theme. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5.How long we keep it

We keep your account information and lookups for as long as your account is active. When you delete a lookup, a phone number, or your account, we delete the related data from our active systems, though copies may remain in backups for a limited time. Turning off the weekly email deletes your email preferences. We may keep some information longer where the law requires it.

6.Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. Please keep your API key private and don't put sensitive personal information in your lookups.

7.Your choices and rights

  • update your profile and settings in the app at any time;
  • remove your phone number or regenerate your API key in Settings;
  • turn off the weekly email in Settings or from the link in any email;
  • delete your account, which removes your lookups and settings.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email support@lookuplater.app. We'll respond within the time required by law and won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

8.International transfers

Our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

9.Children

The Service isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we'll let you know in the app or by email. See also our Terms of Service.
